FAMILY
SUPPORT SERVICES
Family Support Services,
commonly known as WrapAround services,
is a new and unique approach to working with at-risk, Severely Emotionally
Disturbed (SED) youth. These children have been placed in, or are
at-risk of being placed in, psychiatric hospitals, high level residential
treatment centers and/or juvenile hall facilities. The goal of WrapAround
is to have youth successfully leave or avoid these long-term, intensive,
high-level settings and return to family, foster care or kinship family
placements.
Family Support Services utilizes
a family-centered, strength-based, individualized planning and implementation
process.
This approach
encourages doing “whatever it takes” to maintain
children in their homes. Referrals are made to our Youth and Family
Support program by various Los Angeles County departments including
the Department of Probation, Department of Children & Family Services
and the Department of Mental Health. |
